CDRL: Transactions PunDominated

Here we go with another Transactions Report, this time delivered with a distinct South Jersey accent to honor Alan Bauer, the head Pundit.

May 16: Pundits pick up 2B Bobby Scales (CHC) for $5, drops OF Darnell McDonald (CIN): This is basically a swap of career minor leaguers, but Scales offers some versatility at MI and CI.

May 16: Pundits pick up P Kris Medlen (ATL) for $7, drops 1B Ross Gload (FLA): Medlen has a AAA ERA of under as the Braves continue to coddle uber-prospect Tommy Hanson. Gload was just a roster-filler. The question is, will this transaction stand up. Medlen is scheduled to start Tuesday but nothing indicates he’s actually been called up.

May 15: Pundits trade OF Mike Cameron (MIL-$28) to Dwellers for 1B Isaac Davis (NYM-$10), OF Darren Ford (SF-$5), OF Andrew Lambo (LA-$10). This looks like a trade between a contending team and a rebuilding team, but the roles are reversed. The Pundits have been bouncing in and out of the top 5 all season. The Dwellers are working at building a solid base. The jewel of the Pundit haul is undoubtedly Lambo, an OF-1B in the Dodger organization who is plying his trade at AA Chattanooga.

May 15: Pundits trade P John Maine (NYM-$5), P Carlos Zambrano (CHC-$10) and OF Drew Stubbs (CIN-$5) to Kings for P Aaron Heilman (CHC-$3), P Matt Lindstrom (FLA-$4 opt), P Greg Smith (COL-$3). This is the quintessential need-for-need deal. The Pundits needed some saves and got Lindstrom. The Kings needed some starting pitching and got Maine and the DL’d and enigmatic Mr. Z.

May 14: Kings pick up P Bryan Augenstein (ARI) for $7, drop OF Jeremy Reed (NYM): Augenstein dominated in AA in five starts, but didn’t fare well
